BOLD! DARING!

Son of Othello by Tom Jacobson (Hollywood, CA) directed by Lenny Pinna

ORIGINAL! FRESH!

A gay, African-American college lit professor, fighting for tenure, is anonymously sent a 16th-century Venetian manuscript. As he translates, the play careens back and forth from epoch to epoch, with results both bitingly funny and poignant. This tragicomedy asks the question, "What is identity, and how do we know if we've got it?" Friday 1/13 at 8 pm & Sunday 1/15 at 2 pm

Fag Bashing in America by John Beck (Wilkes-Barre, PA) directed by Karen Crocheron

What happens when a gay ballet dancer encounters two Latino thugs in the park at night? Not what you think. In this wonderful, witty, short work, John Beck bashes commonly held myths and stereotypes about people who are a part of the mainstream and, in particular, those who are not. At its core is a love story that evolves out of a dangerous situation, and one discovers that Mr. Right doesn't always enter our lives through congenial social settings and proper introductions. Saturday, 1/21 at 8 pm & Sunday, 1/22 at 7 pm

Junk Bonds by Lucy Wang (Akron, OH) directed by Ray McNiece

A searingly brutal and funny stab at the male-powered, money-driven world of Wall Street bond trading. A Chinese-American woman must go through a wrenching assimilation process at white-male-dominated Tapir, Inc., and prove she is "hung like a tapir." Written by a former insider, the cruel and incisively written situations and characters take a dark look at loyalty, trust, and sexual/global politics. By the winner of a 1994 Kennedy Center Roger L. Stevens Award. Saturday 1/28 at 8 pm & Sunday 1/29 at 7 pm
